Since it had been stated that the Lord wanted to do some healing at our Quiet Waters church retreat, I was expectant the entire time. Jesus ministered to me in some wonderful ways that weekend, but I additionally kept waiting for the moment that we were released to pray for healing. Friday night, the last hour of the retreat, the Lord finally released us to pray for those things that had been laying dormant in our lives: dreams, hopes, promises, delayed healing, etc. I was up in a flash. The Lord amazed me with how He sent people to pray over me. After that night, I sent an email to each person who prayed for me, so that they could see the big picture of what God did that night. This week, I am thankful for:
1. The Well – Every Wednesday night at my church we have a prayer and worship service for two hours. I love the flow of worship leading into prayer and prayer leading into worship. They really are intertwined. And I love spending my evening with my brothers and sisters in Christ praying for the things that the Lord wants us to pray into.
Last weekend, I attended my church’s first adoption conference and got the opportunity to set up some information about STEPS. I spent a lot of time working on getting the display ready during the week leading up to the event.
The girls of STEPS can be sponsored for $30 a month, and we need 10 sponsors per girl to help meet all of their needs. So I made little buckets that hold ten pictures of each of the girls. On the front is their picutre and name, on the back is their birthday and story of how they came to STEPS. Then when someone sponsors one of the girls, they get to take one of the pictures with them. On Sunday morning, our church was blessed by speaker Chris Wheeler from Show Hope (Steven Curtis Chapman’s adoption organization). He shared a message with us about God’s heart for orphans and adoption. For me, it was an extremely timely message since I have just found myself joyfully in the beginning phases of being Director of STEPS which I just announced yesterday in my Monthly Update.
James 1:27 – Religion that God our Father accepts as pure and faultless is this: to look after orphans and widows in their distress and to keep oneself from being polluted by the world. (more…)
