April 2012 Ministry Update

April has been such a full month for me! I had a weekend of fasting and praying with a few of my friends, then a week later we had Quiet Waters at church which is a time of worshiping and prayer together as a community. Here at the office we’re in full swing getting ready for the summer. We have an intern who will be joining us in June and a new staff member moving here next month with his family. I also have some speaking engagements over the next few weeks where I will get to share about STEPS and the precious little girls there (that I will get to visit soon!).

Are You Weary?

There has been an epidemic recently… everyone I talked to was tired, weary, and generally just feeling blah. I just emailed my favorite girls (my small group) to hopefully encourage all of us all right out of this tired feeling. I sure don’t like feeling lethargic, apathetic, and generally worn out. I want to be filled with the strength, joy, and peace that comes from Jesus.

I know that I’ve been more tired than usual lately. It reminded me of what Jesus said in Matthew 11:28-30: 28 “Come to me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest. 29 Take my yoke upon you and learn from me, for I am gentle and humble in heart, and you will find rest for your souls. 30 For my yoke is easy and my burden is light.” (more…)

Wedding Hangover

On Friday night, I witnessed the beautiful marriage of my friend Dani to the love of her life, Joey. I had the honor and privilege of helping them set up, decorate, and just serving them where needed.

I spent the entire week – Monday through Friday – running around helping the family get things ready. My pedometer on my phone told me that I walked anywhere from 5-8 miles each day. But when it came time for the ceremony on Friday night, the room looked gorgeous. The room was set up with round tables, covered in white table cloths with blue overlays. Then there were dishes, favors, candles and white roses on each table. We had decorated the room with white Christmas lights everywhere. The aisle was lined with white columns, flower garland, tulle, and candles. Both the ceremony and the reception took place in the same room. As people arrived, they were seated at the tables where they both watched the ceremony and enjoyed the reception. The whole evening was filled with touches that reflected their personalities. And Dani was simply stunning in her beautiful white dress. (more…)
