Days 1 & 2, India Summer 2012

The following is excerpts from my journal from my most recent trip to see the girls of STEPS Home in India.

July 23 & 24 –

All of the generous donations that I got to pack to take to the girls. That’s a lot of stuff!

Our journey officially started on Monday, July 23, where Theresa and I left from Knoxville at 6pm. But really, the trip was put into motion on Wednesday night at church. That night at The Well, Theresa and I went prepared to share a little about our up-coming trip and be prayed for. So when I walked into the room in my sari and an Indian couple and their American friends walked in right behind me, I was a little surprised. From the top of the hill, there was a fabulous view of the city from every angle; I can see why Thomas would have been up there praying.

Less Than 48 Hours

In less than 48 hours (approximately 44… but who’s counting?), I will be boarding a plane and making my way to India! For so long it has seemed so far off, that it almost seems surreal now that it’s just a day and a half away. But even though I start the trip on Thursday morning, it will take somewhere around 23 hours of traveling to actually arrive in India. I will be one tired girl by the time I get there!

So today and tomorrow I am focusing on those last-minute things that have to be done. The majority of my packing will be done tomorrow. Tonight I will be shopping for those last few things I need for the trip. And I am working on getting a few things in the office wrapped up before I leave.
