In less than a month, I leave for India to see my precious girls! Thank you so much to those of you who have already given to help me get there, towards items for the girls, or given items for me to take with me. You are sewing into the Kingdom by helping to bless these valuable little lives. Just look at their joyful little faces in the picture – they have joy because they are loved, safe, and secure both physically and in Christ!
As I prepare to go, there are still many things that I need from Isaac and Tara’s Wish List. See below for the full list.
From the list of items, some of the most important that I still need are:
- 16 Small Backpacks
- Clothes for the 7- and 8-year-old (they are both tall and skinny)
- 14 Children’s Bibles (think light-weight)
- White socks
- Children’s Multivitamins
- Small Water Bottles
There has been an epidemic recently… everyone I talked to was tired, weary, and generally just feeling blah. I just emailed my favorite girls (my small group) to hopefully encourage all of us all right out of this tired feeling. I sure don’t like feeling lethargic, apathetic, and generally worn out. I want to be filled with the strength, joy, and peace that comes from Jesus.
So here’s what I wrote:
I noticed over the past week that there has been a lot of tiredness and weariness going around. And in talking to many of you, you have expressed the same thing. I know that I’ve been more tired than usual lately. It reminded me of what Jesus said in Matthew 11:28-30: 28 “Come to me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest. 29 Take my yoke upon you and learn from me, for I am gentle and humble in heart, and you will find rest for your souls. 30 For my yoke is easy and my burden is light.” (more…)
How do I even begin to talk about a day that brings such mixed emotions?
Sadness at the years of what could have been and can never be recaptured.
Joy that he is free from pain and sickness.
Thankful that God led us to reconciliation.
Sadness that our new-found relationship ended too soon.
Wistfully watching dads and daughters interacting.
So joyful that he is with Jesus now.
And so incredibly thankful that I have a Heavenly Abba who loves me. (more…)
Recently, Jesus showed me a picture of a flowerbed. In it were yellow and purple pansies. I asked Him what it meant. Slowly, over the next couple of weeks, He showed me some interesting things about it. And since then, I have seen yellow and purple pansies EVERYwhere.
The first thing He showed me was that the flower bed was full, but there was room for more. I felt encouraged by this, even though I still had no idea what it meant. (more…)
With the triptophan comas wearing off signaling that Thanksgiving is winding down, the Christmas season is upon us. I’ve been asked by quite a few people in the past week if I am going to be up early in the morning to shop the Black Friday sales. Can I just say “YUCK!”? To those of you who love to get up with the mobs of people and run around in the cold, more power to you. I however, will remain snug in my bed, wake up with a purring kitty, and greet the start of the Christmas season with a relaxing morning to be followed by Christmas tree decorating and spending time with my family. This will probably be accompanied with Christmas music, hot chocolate, and a Christmas show or two on TV. (A Charlie Brown Christmas, anyone?) (more…)
