I was thinking the other day that it has been a while since I’ve written an update about where I am in my healing process. I guess it is because there haven’t been any noticeable changes recently.
Or at least I thought, until I was cleaning the other night. The mini blinds in my room were quite dusty, and I couldn’t put it off any longer. And the windows in my room are huge, so this was no small undertaking…. like, try 2.5 hours to do three side-by-side windows. (more…)
The following is a devotional email I sent out to our small group.
Greetings gorgeous gals!
I hope you’re having a good week! I am excited that many of you are coming to the Women’s Retreat this coming weekend. God is going to do some amazing things there.
Whether you are going, or are unable to, this is a good week for all of us to examine our hearts. Two Sundays ago, Brad’s sermon focused on how when God touches the life of any person playing ‘god’, hardness of heart is always a certain reaction. (If you missed the sermon, you can watch it here: http://www.tworiverschurch.org/702479.ihtml.)
At the end of the sermon, Brad challenged us with two truths to apply to our lives:
- Certain sensations are given to us as a gift from God.
- Ask God to free you from your hardness of heart. (more…)

I listen to K-LOVE radio in the mornings when I’m getting ready for work. I love listening to the Morning Show – the three DJs are very encouraging and entertaining.
On Monday, February 4th, they received a call from a listener with an amazing story. Her name was Sarah, and she shared about her life with severe scoliosis – so much so, that her ribs touched her hips. But only days before calling, the Lord had miraculously healed her and she grew 4 inches! The DJs kept her on the phone for a while to hear more of her incredible story. (more…)

The 12-hour drive between TN and northern IL is usually really tough on my back. By the time I arrive at my destination, all I want to do is lay as flat on my back as possible to stretch out the aching muscles. But since I’d been feeling better than usual recently, I thought this drive home might be different.
About 3 hours into the drive though, I was in pain. I called my sweet friend, Theresa, who so quickly began an internet search for the closest Walgreens for me. I pulled over and bought a box of those heat patches and quickly stuck one on my lower back. Why hadn’t I thought of this idea sooner?? It made the rest of the drive so much less painful than it usually is – both to IL and back. (more…)
I am in the midst of a healing work that the Lord is doing in my life. Read about The Need, The Past 6 Months, and Quiet Waters to find out what He has done so far!
Quiet Waters was almost six weeks ago. Since that amazing night of ministry, I have been noticing things I’ve never felt before. Instead of just all over aches or a sore lower back, I have been having very localized aches and pains. It is sometimes the size of a tennis ball, and that area will ache sometimes for minutes, sometimes hours, sometimes a day or more. But then it moves and somewhere else very specific will hurt. Considering the “slow surgery,” it makes sense that the Lord is strategically moving around my back, putting this muscle back, stretching that tendon, maneuvering that bone… He’s working.
On November 28, I went to The Well at church – our weekly prayer and worship time. The night began with some really sweet worship. I was in the back of the room, thanking the Lord for the work on my back He has done so far. Eventually Danny (Pastor of Prayer) gave us directions to get into groups of 3 or 4 to pray for one another for any healing that we need. I ended up in a group with Danny and my sweet friend Robyn. Danny told us about a women in our church who needed our prayers that day for healing, so we began by praying for her healing… for her back.
As we finished praying for her, (more…)
I am on a journey of healing with the Lord. You can read about The Need that caused me to get to this place as well as the 6 Months leading up to this point.
Since it had been stated that the Lord wanted to do some healing at our Quiet Waters church retreat, I was expectant the entire time. Jesus ministered to me in some wonderful ways that weekend, but I additionally kept waiting for the moment that we were released to pray for healing. Friday night, the last hour of the retreat, the Lord finally released us to pray for those things that had been laying dormant in our lives: dreams, hopes, promises, delayed healing, etc. I was up in a flash. The Lord amazed me with how He sent people to pray over me. After that night, I sent an email to each person who prayed for me, so that they could see the big picture of what God did that night. Here’s some of what I wrote: (more…)
The Lord has me in the midst of a healing process. Read the first part of the story here.
If you have ever lived with chronic pain you have probably learned how to cope to some extent and can usually function at a reasonable level most days. But you also know that there are times that there is nothing you can do but to curl up in bed and hope the next day is better.
The NUCCA has worked so well for the past 4 years, but I have noticed that in the past 6 months hasn’t been ‘holding’. Instead of being able to go months with only minor pains, it seems to only be lasting weeks before I feel the need to go back for an adjustment. However, Dr. Heath is in my hometown in Illinois, and I now live in Tennessee with no NUCCA chiropractor nearby. And my knees only seem to be getting worse as time goes by. I hate that I cannot kneel in prayer for any length of time without it effecting me for the next 24 hours.
And the past year I have just grown weary of coping and ‘getting by,’ especially when he had promised me the healing I so desire. I brought my weariness to Jesus’ feet, asking if the time for healing could come quickly.
As I write this, the story of my healing is unfolding. And I feel the push to write it all down, to document the things the Lord does. So I will start at the beginning, and tell this story in parts, as it progresses.
Eighteen years ago, around the age of 13, I started to show signs that something was wrong in my body. It was a couple of years though before I was officially diagnosed with scoliosis and swayback. This means that my spine not only curves side to side, but it also curves in and out too far.
First it effected only my knees – which made a lot of noise because they had been pulled out of alignment. As the years have progressed, I have noticed pain and discomfort in many of my other joints. Most of the pain I carry now is in my lower back though due to my hips being pulled out of place. My fear of the last couple of years is that if something doesn’t change, I could very well end up with early arthritis in my hips, knees, shoulders, etc. Since my diagnosis, I have sought out every type of help for the pain that I could, short of surgery. I have seen every type of chiropractor and only one has been able to help me to manage the pain recently – Dr. Heath practices NUCCA, and I have to say, I am a big fan of the relief I get. (more…)
Wow, it has been a while since I’ve had a chance to post a Thankful Thursday. What with traveling and recovery time, it just has gotten away from me. But here are the three things I’m thankful for this week:
1. I am so thankful that about 6 years ago God miraculously and instantly healed me of the horrible migraines that I had been suffering from. It happened through the simple prayers of a little group of sweet brothers and sisters in Christ gathered around me at a camp outside of Tecate, Mexico and prayed for the pain to end. I have been migraine-free ever since, and rarely even get a headache anymore. Thank you, Jesus! (more…)
Tonight I got to attend a screening of the movie October Baby with my sweet friend Natalie. I had heard a little about the movie, but really didn’t know much going into it. I was pleasantly surprised.
It is a beautifully told story of a young college-age girl who finds out that she is adopted. But as she begins to journey down the road to find out who she is, she uncovers a lot more than she bargained for. You will definitely want to bring along a few tissues when you see this movie. (Since K-Love sponsored the evening, they had little tissue packets in each of the cup holders for us.) The story is ultimately one of the power of forgiveness, reconciliation, and love. This movie will resonate with those who have adopted a child, are adopted, work to help others adopt, foster children, or have experienced the pain of abortion. (more…)
