Harder Than I Thought

I feel led to begin telling a certain part of my story that started in this new season. One I waited for for a very long time.

And I will admit that this is a lot harder to share than I thought it would be. I started to write about it, but had to stop. Not because this is a difficult time in my story, but because of the depths of my heart that I have poured out to the Lord over it. (more…)

Comfort and Magic – April 2 Devos

The following is an email devotional I sent out to the ladies in our small group.

Hey gorgeous gals!

Hope you all had a wonderful Easter weekend!

Brad’s Easter message was so encouraging, wasn’t it? (If you missed it, it will be posted here soon: http://www.tworiverschurch.org/703611.ihtml.)

I’ve been thinking a lot lately about the idea of living outside of our comfort zone. I had dinner the other night with Lynda… Lori and Michelle’s mom. As we conversed, Lynda made a small circle with her hands in front of her and called it the “comfort zone”… then pointed to an unseen point just up and to the right, and called it “where the ‘magic’ happens.” I decided to illustrate it – look at the picture:

My Story of Healing: My Knees

This is a continuation of the story of the healing journey the Lord has me on. You can read about The NeedThe Past 6 MonthsQuiet Waters6 Weeks Since QW, Christmas, and Encouraged by Sarah’s Story

I was thinking the other day that it has been a while since I’ve written an update about where I am in my healing process. I guess it is because there haven’t been any noticeable changes recently.

Or at least I thought, until I was cleaning the other night. The mini blinds in my room were quite dusty, and I couldn’t put it off any longer. And the windows in my room are huge, so this was no small undertaking…. like, try 2.5 hours to do three side-by-side windows.  (more…)

Hard Hearts and a Hero – February 19 Devos

The following is a devotional email I sent out to our small group.

Greetings gorgeous gals!

I hope you’re having a good week! I am excited that many of you are coming to the Women’s Retreat this coming weekend. God is going to do some amazing things there.

Whether you are going, or are unable to, this is a good week for all of us to examine our hearts. Two Sundays ago, Brad’s sermon focused on how when God touches the life of any person playing ‘god’, hardness of heart is always a certain reaction. (If you missed the sermon, you can watch it here: http://www.tworiverschurch.org/702479.ihtml.)

At the end of the sermon, Brad challenged us with two truths to apply to our lives:

  1. Certain sensations are given to us as a gift from God.
  2. Ask God to free you from your hardness of heart.  (more…)

My Story of Healing: Encouraged by Sarah’s Story

This is a continuation of the story of the healing journey the Lord has me on. You can read about The Need, The Past 6 Months, Quiet Waters, 6 Weeks Since QW, and Christmas

I listen to K-LOVE radio in the mornings when I’m getting ready for work.k-love I love listening to the Morning Show – the three DJs are very encouraging and entertaining.

On Monday, February 4th, they received a call from a listener with an amazing story. Her name was Sarah, and she shared about her life with severe scoliosis – so much so, that her ribs touched her hips. But only days before calling, the Lord had miraculously healed her and she grew 4 inches! The DJs kept her on the phone for a while to hear more of her incredible story.  (more…)

Patience and Details – February 5 Devos

The following is an email I sent out the ladies of our growth group.

Hey ladies!

I hope your week is off to a great start! Mine sure has been. Thanks for all of the birthday love today!

I have really been enjoying going through Eat This Book with the church. I love studying specific portions of Scripture, but getting acquainted with the big story is good to do every so often. And even if you aren’t reading along with us, there are still so many things we can learn together!

There were a few things that stuck out to me as I read through Genesis and Exodus. First was the patience of those early saints. Remember, they didn’t have the Holy Spirit to guide them and encourage them. The heard a word from the Lord, acted on it… and then sometimes didn’t hear from Him again in a long time. Can you imagine being Abraham, leaving his home, traveling to where God told him to go, but probably not getting confirmation along the way?  (more…)

Worship Postures

Our women’s small group has regrouped for the semester after taking a little winter break. It was so good to be back amongst my girls!

Part of our evening always includes worshiping together. And we felt that God was leading us to learn more about being physically engaged in worship. So I put together a little handout lesson for the group about some of the postures of worship that are in the Bible. Most of us are comfortable with a few of these, but some may be just outside our bubble of comfortably. I challenged them to ask the Lord how He wanted them to worship. Here’s what we learned:

Psalm 100

Shout for joy to the Lord, all the earth.
    Worship the Lord with gladness;
come before him with joyful songs.
Know that the Lord is God.
It is he who made us, and we are his;
we are his people, the sheep of his pasture.

Enter his gates with thanksgiving
and his courts with praise;
give thanks to him and praise his name.
For the Lord is good and his love endures forever;
his faithfulness continues through all generations. (more…)
