Chocolate Chip Lava Cookies


I found a delectable recipe one day floating around on facebook, so I traced it back to it’s source to get the full set of directions. After all, who doesn’t love molten chocolate oozing out of the center of something yummy, like a cookie??

My first (double) batch I made for our Sister Splash women’s night at church… and they disappeared like… well, not like hotcakes, but like hot cookies! Ooey-gooey cookies!

I made them again for my small group last night, and again they were a hit! I think I may have found my new go-to recipe when I need to bring a desert. So here is the recipe for you:  (more…)

Thankful Thursdays


This Thursday I am thankful for:

1. Dutch letters! Oh, they are the most wonderful confection.
I get them only once or twice a year, but they are wonderful… especially the ones that come from my cousin’s world-famous bakery (Jaarsma’s) in Pella,Iowa. While I was home last weekend, I got to partake of their flaky goodness, and rich almond paste centers. (Am I making you drool yet??)

Octo-dog


I love summer foods, especially picnic food! As a kid, I especially loved hot dogs. Now that I’m older and sometimes in the care of other’s children, I’m always looking for something fun that kids will actually enjoy eating. (I like to be the “cool” babysitter!)

So one time I stumbled across this really great idea for hot dogs. With a knife, you slice straight down into the hot dog, about half-way down. You make 4 cuts, which will create the 8 legs. If you want to get fancy, you can carve out little eyes and a mouth on each of them. (more…)
