(The following is the devotionals I sent out to our women’s small group for the week.)
If you were in church this weekend, you heard Pastor Brad share about the pursuit of Jesus. (If you missed it, you can watch it here: http://www.tworiverschurch.org/699277.ihtml.) Jesus’ invitation to ‘come after Him’ calls us to pursue Him with the same intensity found in romantic love.
Just as in a romantic relationship we wouldn’t let anything get in the way of our pursuit of that person, we shouldn’t let anything get in the way of our pursuit of Jesus.
So what barriers do you need to knock down? Do you need to lay down your fear? Sacrifice your pride? Surrender your time? Trust Him fully with the plans He has laid out in front of you? Is there a person you have put in place of Jesus?
Or do you need to go back to do the things you did at first, a time when you felt much joy in your relationship with Jesus? (more…)
This week, I am thankful for:
1. The Well – Every Wednesday night at my church we have a prayer and worship service for two hours. I love the flow of worship leading into prayer and prayer leading into worship. They really are intertwined. And I love spending my evening with my brothers and sisters in Christ praying for the things that the Lord wants us to pray into.
The British are coming! The British are coming! Oh wait… they’re here!
That’s right, our British actors from London arrived late last night. We are very excited to have David and Michael here. They will be staying here for the next 5 weeks presenting the drama “Questioning Aslan – A Night with C.S. Lewis.” They will be protraying a fictional account of C.S. Lewis and a student, Tellar. Lewis and Tellar walk us through some of his great literary achievements: The Screwtape Letters, Mere Christianity, and The Chronicles of Narnia. Teller is faced with the reality of God. This will be an amazing performace – check out the little video clip of the actors on our website.
We will have 10 different venues where this drama will be performed. If you are interested in learning more, check out the Infusion Ministries website: www.infusionnow.org.
You won’t want to miss this!
