This is a continuation of my story of the healing process that the Lord has had me on recently. You can read about it under My Story of Healing.
The 12-hour drive between TN and northern IL is usually really tough on my back. By the time I arrive at my destination, all I want to do is lay as flat on my back as possible to stretch out the aching muscles. But since I’d been feeling better than usual recently, I thought this drive home might be different.
About 3 hours into the drive though, I was in pain. I called my sweet friend, Theresa, who so quickly began an internet search for the closest Walgreens for me. I pulled over and bought a box of those heat patches and quickly stuck one on my lower back. Why hadn’t I thought of this idea sooner?? It made the rest of the drive so much less painful than it usually is – both to IL and back. (more…)
The following is an email that I sent out to our women’s small group from church.
I hope your weekends are off to a good start! Our month-long run of plays started yesterday, so we have been busy, busy, busy! But in the spare moments I have been able to grab, I have been seeking the Lord about my verse and theme for the year. Part of the fun of having a verse or theme for the year is sharing it with others so they can help you watch for it when it pops up in unexpected places. We get to rejoice together in what the Lord is doing in each others’ lives! So, I want to share with you all what I have been hearing.
On my drive home from IL to TN after Christmas (which my car made it, by the way…. thanks everyone for praying!), I was listening to a teaching by Beth Moore. (more…)
(The following is an email devotional I sent out to the ladies in our small group.)
Hey ladies! Happy New Year!
I want to encourage you in a practice that a few of us have been doing for a few years. Instead of making resolutions (because truthfully, many of us find those impossible to keep), some of us ask the Lord for a verse or word/phrase for the New Year. Think of it as a declaration.
For 2010, I asked the Lord for a verse, and he gave me Ephesians 3:17b-19. “And I pray that you, being rooted and established in love, 18 may have power, together with all the saints, to grasp how wide and long and high and deep is the love of Christ, 19 and to know this love that surpasses knowledge—that you may be filled to the measure of all the fullness of God.”
As you know, that was the year that I was introduced to STEPS and my girls in India. I learned much about love as the Lord awoke a mother’s heart in me for those girls. (more…)
