Musings from a promise-collector

The following is excerpts from my journal from my most recent trip to see the girls of STEPS Home in India.

August 2 –

Today at the office, I worked on some letters and a newsletter. Then we corroborated with Ben to help him edit down a longer video into shorter segments. We got a lot accomplished in the office this morning. And we had Italian for lunch. Italian in India… Ha.

After lunch we met with Dr. Nisha, Sunja (who works in the office), and two architects to talk about the floor plans of the new home. The original plans had to be revamped, so we talked about it should look like. We talked about the needs, and what kind of plan would best fit those needs. I was glad to be a part of that. The house will still have a similar exterior, like the model we saw last December:

It it mostly just interior changes that will happen.

After our meeting, we finalized some plans for Mike to go to Bangalore for the weekend to help with a basketball camp that Isaac’s cousin was holding. Mike was pretty excited about helping with this, since that is his passion.

Before we left the office, I gave a quick call to Ashok and Sheila (who we met in Knoxville) to arrange a meeting with them. We made plans for lunch tomorrow. I’m excited to see them again.

We headed home around 7 for dinner. We were all pretty wiped after dinner, so we headed back to the Home, saw the girls for a few minutes and headed to bed. I was also a little tired from fighting off a dull headache. In bed, I read through Romans 12… verse 12 stuck out to me tonight:

Rejoice in hope, be patient in tribulation, be constant in prayer.

I have hope: hope of promises and things to come. Do I rejoice in it? Or just wait in it? Something to think about.
