Haku Meets a Stink Bug

While our sweet friends Brandon and Tirzah are on tour playing their music, we are kitten-sitting.

This is Haku (ha-koo).

Haku is playful and incredibly curious. (more…)

Across the Street

Growing up, across the street was a pretty magical place. It was filled with sweet treats, an enchanted garden, little gnomes and frogs that guarded the garden, flowers you could eat and others you could snap, the best climbing tree ever, and two of the most amazing people I have had the privilege of knowing.

Adam and I spent our summers across the street… at John and Marilynn’s. He was a retired judge and naval officer. She was a retired court clerk who absolutely adored him. Since they married later in life, she had no biological children, and John’s kids and grandkids were all grown up (he had been widowed). When I was two, I because their ‘adopted’ granddaughter, and Adam joined the club a couple years later when he entered the world. (more…)

Microwave It!

Brown sugar too lumpy? Honey crystalized? Need to disinfect your cutting board or sponge? Apparently a little time in the microwave can solve these kitchen woes! I read this article today on Yahoo! News about 15 microwave tips and found it very informative.

I may just have to try their applesauce recipe! (more…)

My Heart is in India, Now to Get the Rest of Me There!

Grace and peace to you from God our Father and the Lord Jesus Christ, who gave himself for our sins to rescue us from the present evil age, according to the will of our God and Father, to whom be glory for ever and ever. Amen. -Galatians 1:3-5

As you read in my latest Update, I am SO excited about this new opportunity that the Lord has given me as the Infusion Ministries Director of STEPS, our new partner ministry in India that rescues abused, abandoned, and neglected little girls. My heart is already in India, so now I just have to get the rest of me there! I have added my ‘Wish List’ to this post, so that you can see what my needs are to get me there to love on those 16 precious little girls. Please pray for me, that the Lord would provide what I need to get there quickly. And if you can help meet any of the needs, please see the bottom of the Wish List. (more…)

Lasagna Alfredo

Lasagna is one of those really great foods – most of your recommended food groups contained in melodious melding of ingredients. But sometimes I want lasagna without the acidity of the red sauce base. That’s when I stumbled across a really great alternative: Lasagna Alfredo. It has become one of my favorite foods and quite easy to make. And if you buy noodles that do not need to be boiled first (there is a lot of moisture in this recipe, so the noodles come out perfect), it saves time! (more…)

Save A Little Girl

Female infanticide, child trafficking, and child abuse has become very commonplace in India. Spreading awareness is the first step to righting things; join STEPS in protecting girl children by finding out more!

The girls who live at STEPS have been rescued from these very things! I wish I could share all of their stories and show you their faces, but for safety, I cannot put them on the web. If you want to see their faces though next time you see me, just ask! I love their little faces and I want people to hear their stories! How is it possible that I can already be so in love with those little faces that I have never met? The only way I can describe it is because of God. He has already knitted my heart to those little girls in such a supernatural way. I think about them constantly, I pray for them throughout day, I could break down into tears if I look at their little faces too long. (more…)
