1 The heavens declare the glory of God;
the skies proclaim the work of his hands.
2 Day after day they pour forth speech;
night after night they reveal knowledge.
3 They have no speech, they use no words;
no sound is heard from them.
4 Yet their voice goes out into all the earth,
their words to the ends of the world.
In the heavens God has pitched a tent for the sun.
God’s glory is everywhere! His fingerprints are all over our world and beyond! Here are some of my favorite pictures from space that show the amazingness of God’s creation of the universe:
The Earth as seen from the Moon.
“The Pale Blue Dot” – Satellite Voyager’s picture of Earth caught in a ray of light from the sun; this image was taken from within our galaxy.Yes, we are on that little speck of dust.
The Milky Way Galaxy. Our Solar System is between two of the spiral arms of the galaxy, approximately where the arrow points to. The Milky Way isn’t even the biggest galaxy in the universe. Feeling small yet?
Two galaxies interacting.
Cat’s Eye Nebula
Mystic Mountain – This cloud of gasses is 3-light-years tall. (One light year is about 5.88 trillion miles.)
The Whirlpool Galaxy – Known as the darling of astronomy. It is 31 million light years away.
The center of the Whirlpool Galaxy as taken by the Hubble Telescope.
These images blow my mind. God is so huge and so creative! He holds the universe in His hand! Yet He is mindful of us!
1 LORD, our Lord,
how majestic is your name in all the earth! You have set your glory
in the heavens.
3 When I consider your heavens,
the work of your fingers,
the moon and the stars,
which you have set in place,
4 what is mankind that you are mindful of them,
human beings that you care for them?
If you would like to learn more about God’s creation of the universe around us, I highly recommend watching Louis Giglio’s videos “Indescribable” followed by “How Great Is Our God”. He does an excellent job of expressing just how amazing the creation around our Solar System is.
